Miller Moments

Cohen is at the really quite easy to manage stage, where he can sit up on his own and can be entertained by a toothbrush. He is starting to put his arms out to reach for you when he wants up and snuggle into your shoulder when he is tired - so cute. His schedule has gone by the way side though, he has been up late quite a few nights and fighting it all the way when he has to go to bed. If he does go down early, then he is up early and sleeping longer in the morning so it is really a guessing game these days.

Carter is funny as ever. He has been quite emotional these past days and I am not sure why. Probably just one of those stages. He is enjoying having buddies and always asking to go for playdates which is great as I get a break from building castles and dinosaur everything. He is a great big bro - a little rough but what can you expect - and a great helper for me. I will be sad to go back to work as it has been great to enjoy this time with Carter, something Cohen will likely never get at that age.

We had the Latimer/Loeppky crew over for supper and a play date on Thursday night. All went well, except I burnt the ribs - hence why I don't usually do the bbqing. It is great to have friends with kids the same age, as well supper at someone's house is way easier than juggling at a restaurant so we will be doing this more often I think with all our friends.

Josh had his last hockey game last night as they lost, well senior hockey anyway - adult safe is still on for a couple months though I think. He had a playoff mustache going and now his face is clean shaven, which is quite a change. At the rate it grows though, it won't last for long.

I am still struggling with a sore back and hips. All the stairs and a 20lb+ kid are not easy. I haven't been able to do much of anything, especially not the gym for 2 weeks, which is hard for someone like me who rarely finds time to sit down during the day. I think it is now finally on the mend and hoping by Monday I will be back to some kind of normal.

Last night Cohen decided that his sleep from 8:30 - 9:00 pm was just a nap and I had to struggle with him until he finally gave in around 11:45 pm. I was worried about gettting him up to get Carter to school this morning but at 7:40 am who did I hear but Cohen.
Hard to believe he is 7.5 months old tomorrow. Here he is playing in the play pen.

We dropped Carter off this morning and one of the other mom's offered to take him in which was great as my back is still sore and I didn't want to have to carry Cohen any more than needed. Cohen and I went to the gym so I could try to stretch out my back and loosen up my hips. I got called as he was puking in the day care so the workout was short lived. I think they just had him sitting up on the floor for too long after he had just ate. However, he may have some tummy trouble which could have been why he was out of sorts last night. Lucky I checked my cell phone on the way home from the gym, as school was apparently cancelled today so Carter went home with one of the other mom's as they couldn't get a hold of me - what a day!

I had great intentions and a long list of things to get done while Josh was off this week but lifting my parents luggage on Tuesday morning and painting that day somehow seized my back. I have barely been able to pick up Cohen or bend over for 3 days now. I have been to the chiro and massage but still really stiff and sore - hoping it will let up soon.

Cohen has decided to be a night owl the last 2 nights staying up til after 10:30pm. Hope this isn't a trend because I will never be able to get anything done at night. He is taking after his brother, as he loves to play with blocks and knock them over - monkey see, monkey do!

Not sure what to do about Carter's TaeKwon Do as he does great and is such a good listener but all the other kids don't pay attention and just run wild which I can tell makes it difficult for him to stay focused and be good. I want him to still go as it is good exercise and we just keep reinforcing how good he is at listening to the teacher not like the other kids.

Not much new with the Millers. Kids are good and the days just seem to fly by. Cohen's rash is almost all but gone with the medicated cream we got. Carter was off school for quite a few days but is back into the swing of things today.

Josh is on holidays this week so I have a list of things that I want to get done around the house like painting - things you just can't get done by yourself while looking after 2 kids. I know Josh wanted to go away on his days off but it is quite hard with the baby and I wanted to get this stuff done as before I know it I will be back at work. Josh being off this week works great as my parents left for Florida today and will be gone for 2 weeks. Having a retired mother/grandmother is so handy as she pops by which gives me a free set of hands ever now and again to get something done - it will be a long 2 weeks without her.

Grandma Janet is coming down this weekend for a visit and Josh has his last 2 senior hockey games this week (assuming they lose out).

Cohen is still battling his rash and it has spread to his chin and lower cheeks. We went to the doctor today and he thinks it is eczema so he gave us a prescription - hopefully that clears it up. Hard to believe that he will be 7 months old tomorrow. He is sitting up great and the puking has definitely subsided - he is growing up so quick.

Cohen had his first big fall. He was sitting on the blow up chair and leaned forward before I could catch him, he bumped his head and got a bruise - the first of many I'm sure. Hate to jinx it but his spitting up has somewhat subsided so hoping that the solid foods and a maturing system will soon lessen the number of bibs we use - we are down to about 6 a day!

Carter has been having some trouble eating lately, not sure if it is acid reflux or just a gag reflex because of too much food at once. He seems to choke and then it comes back up so we will have to keep an eye on it.
Carter had a busy weekend of play dates. He and Grandma Faye went to the greenhouse last Friday and had a great time playing with dinosaurs and watering plants. They had cookies, fruit and juice for snacks and it was all free. Friday night we went to Peyton's house and Saturday he got to see Ryler at the baby shower.

I have been battling off a cold as I woke up with a sore throat on Sunday morning and have been trying to ward it off with baking soda & salt so no one else gets it. Josh had a busy weekend of hockey - Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and night.

Monday - we are going to the Pat's game.
Tuesday - Carter has his first soccer session.
Thursday - Carter has tikes Tae Kwon Do.
Friday - Grandma Janet comes.
Saturday - supper at the Tuchscherer's.
