Miller Moments

It was a beautiful weekend, with the weather finally cooperating. We got together with friends and went sledding with the kids, then off for a bbq and fire outside with marshmallows and smores - what a great way to spend a winter day! That is one of the best things about having kids, getting to be a kid again yourself - going sledding and playing at the park.

Of course I am a couple days late again. But it feels like I was just writing about Cohen turning 1 1/2, what happened to that month. Overall, he is such a happy go lucky little guy. He has a laugh that makes everyone smile - like in line today at Walmart when we were playing peek-a-boo! He does have a definite attitude as well, lately he has had a couple crying fits/tantrums that nothing works to stop - but time! All a part of growing up I guess. He says mom really clear now and has started to say hi a bit - other than that, still alot of grunting and babbling. He definitely knows what shaking his head no means though. He loves to give hugs and kisses and is the best laundry helper ever. He does pretty good outside, loves to shovel but doesn't like snow on him of course.

Looking back, I recall that I used to think 40 was "older" but now that I am much closer to 40 than 30 it doesn't seem so old. Getting older typically causes people to be more set in their ways, opinionated, grumpier, etc. I htink I have started to fall into this category. It all started at Christmas this year, it just seems so silly for everyone to buy each other gifts but since no one knows what to get we would ask each other for a list and then buy what's on it - surprise - NOT!
So this year, we made a donation in honour of my dad to the palliative care unit.

Furthermore, Carter has already been to 3 kid birthday parties at the age of 4. They have been more extravagant than I can imagine. The 1st one was bowling with 20 kids, the next one a magician was brought to the house and the 3rd one was at the YMCA with a cupcake theme that went way overboard. Carter brought home more than he took for a gift - most of which is dollar store junk. To me, it seems crazy to spend over $200 on your 4 or 5 year old's birthday party, inviting all 20 kids from preschool and getting more toys that they will barely ever play with. Of course Carter is already asking what we will be doing for his birthday - a family bbq????

As for getting older, I am still seeing the obgyn to find out what is going on with my hormones. It has been about a year since things were normal and apparently I have low estrogen - whatever that means. It isn't early menopause - thank gosh!
