How does he measure up....
Cohen had his 18 month appointment & immunization today. Josh said that he did real well on the first 2 shots but the 3rd one stung and he let the nurse know. His weight has stayed pretty consistent at 31 lbs (90th percentile) and he is 34 inches tall (75th percentile). Of course, the dreaded question of how many words does he say came ... none! Apparently babbling is considered "trying to talk" so she wasn't too concerned and the fact that he has an older brother that likely talks for him. He does say "mum" quite often and something that kind of sounds like "hot" when he sees a coffee cup but that's about it. The nurse did mention a speech therapist but we will wait on that one. I have a feeling that while we are gone to Mexico he will start talking just to make us feel extra guilty. I can't wait to hear his first words.
It was hard to see him in pain but I enjoyed all the cuddles he wanted to give tonight.
Recently Cohen seems to have an interest in the potty. Last night he went into the bathroom and pointed at it so Josh took off his diaper and put him on ..... guess what .... he actually peed on the potty! Luck I am sure but hope this is a sign that having an older brother to watch will make training the 2nd one just as easy.

38 days & counting down........
Bye bye winter, at least for a week. I booked us a hot vacation to Mazatlan. The last time I was there was with Marcia in 1998, funny how the prices haven't changed much since then. Below is a link to our hotel, it is a Riu, the same hotel we stayed at in Los Cabos when I was pregnant with Cohen. This one has a kids club, kid pool & slides and playground. We are taking Carter so hope he will enjoy the kid friendliness. We are not taking Cohen as Josh is right that "it would not be a vacation" if we took him - he is way too busy! It will be hard to leave our little man as I will miss him so much. We went to Mexico when Carter was 22 months and he was quite traumatized, so hoping the same does not happen with Cohen.
Carter's traumatic story
He packed his own suitcase with stuff and we had to put it in the back of the truck with ours. We went to the airport to check in and send our luggage. Carter came with and when we checked our luggage he asked why we didn't check his, we told him we would keep it with us. So we took his back home - he rolled it thru the airport back to the truck (so cute but heartbreaking). He didn't really know what was happening until we were about to leave home for good and then I started crying and so did he. Of course, while we were gone he got really sick and had to stay home from daycare, get taken to the doctor and get some medicine. We did call home but it was hard to hear him due to the connection and he was only 22 months. However, we could carry on a conversation not like Cohen who has yet to say a word.

18 months....
One and a half years old - better known as 18 months old.
Question of the day: Why is it that babies are counted in months til at least after 2 years old?
He is 18 months old but acting like a 3 year old. My how the second one grows up so much quicker and "wants to" or should I say "has to" do everything the older one does. We went for a playdate to Dinbouncers on the weekend and Cohen climbed the huge inflatable slide and went down by himself (Carter advises me it is 16 stairs high).
On the weekend I was scrubbing floors and doors and Cohen
was following behind me with a rag doing just the same.
Everything he does is cute these days - pats you on the back while he gives you a hug, hides things behind his back he knows he's not supposed to have, scrubs his toes in the tub, pulls his stool up to the coffee table to have a snack - the list goes on!
He loves to feed himself - look at the devilish smile behind that spoon.
Here he is trying to jump just like Carter did, he got the
squat down part but wasn't sure what to do after that!
He is starting to read books by himself as well!
The rash is almost gone and hopefully the tonsilitis too, as he is out of medicine. Here's to a healthy rest of the winter.
Carter finally started back to school after 3.5 weeks. He starts skating school on Wednesday and swimming in a couple weeks. Hopefully being so busy will make the rest of the winter fly by as I am darn sick of shovelling. We are planning to take Carter with us on a hot vacation as well, so that should help make the winter a little shorter - where is still TBD.

New Year's day came with a .... rash!
The night before New Year's Eve, Carter was up haf the night and said that his whole body ached, Cohen was up from 10:30 to 12:15 pm til he finally gave in and I was up coughing what felt like the rest of the night - needless to say not much sleep was had. I had prebought tickets to the Science Centre so we didn't miss out and on my way home from work went to get our money back as Carter stayed home sick. Cohen woke up with a bit of a rash but I just thought it was a heat rash .... more to come!
By about 2 pm Carter decided he was well enough to take in the fun. He had a good time at the Science Centre and went to the Yogi Bear movie that night with Josh.
Cohen woke up New Year's Day with the rash spread to his whole body including face so off to the Mediclinic @ 10 am for a 1 hour wait and then another 1/2 hour at the drugstore. He has tonsilitis and strep rash - wonderful start to the year!
