Mid week update
Cohen is doing good. Eating is getting much better as his tongue has seemed to relax and not just pushing everything back out at me. He has a horrible rash under his chin (actually rolls) from all the drooling and always having a wet bib. Not sure if it is time to get some medicated cream yet or not. Saved a mess in the cloth diaper - caught Cohen in mid push and he pooped on the potty today!
Carter has switched from a movie watching maniac to a winter warrior. Since we built the fort outside last weekend, he has been out for at least an hour every day except today, as it was bitter cold. It works well, as we go out while Cohen sleeps.
It is Ryler's (boy from Carter's old daycare) mom's baby shower on Saturday so Carter and I are going to visit and play as he hasn't seen him in a long time. They are having another boy too - is anyone having a girl these days?
Here is Carter in his TaeKwon Do, I am so impressed how well he listens especially compared to the other kids.

Weekend update
Hard to believe that it is my brother's 10th wedding anniversary today - time sure flies. They couldn't get together this weekend, so we will likely go out for brunch next weekend.
We had Cohen's 6 month picture (actually 6 1/2 months) done at Walmart today. I think it was a good idea to wait the extra 2 weeks though, as he is so much stronger and able to sit up better so made the pictures easier. We were in and out in 10 minutes. He did awesome, smiled lots and didn't even puke - can't wait to get the pictures.
Yesterday he actually started to cry a bit as he wanted some blocks that he couldn't reach and once he got them, he smiled away. Hard to believe he is at that stage already.
Carter started Tae Kwon Do and they learned a couple moves - kick, punch and block. However, Josh said it was mostly chaos with kids running around. I reminded him that it was the first night and what do you expect for a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds. I am just happy to have him out getting some exercise. He starts soccer on Tuesday nights in a couple weeks.
Carter told me he didn't have a very good day, first the tunnel Josh and him built caved in and when we went sledding we tipped and he got a face wash - life's tough when you are 3 1/2.
Josh has somehow finagled (ha ha!) his way back into playing senior hockey this year. First it was just to sub for a few games and now it is to finish the year and playoffs. I just don't like it because he is gone from about 6 pm for the rest of the night but I know how much he enjoys it and missed it this year, so it's a compromise for both of us.

1 less worry...
I have found a babysitter for the boys that seems to be great. She is easy going and has a 3 year old son of her own that Carter seemed to play real well with when we went there to meet her. They live just around the corner so it will be convenient too. I am so relieved, as that was my biggest worry with all the nightmare chilcare stories out there.
Just when we were enjoying a great schedule with Cohen, it's time to introduce food. He had carrots for lunch and ate the best he has ever so I tried them again for supper and cut out the 6 pm bottle - it went real well. Funny how it was only 3 years ago I was doing this with Carter but can't seem to remember what I did. Oh well, I guess each one is different anyway and you just go with whatever works.
Cohen rolled over for the first time on Friday night but Carter and I missed it as we were playing. Now he rolls over constantly when you set him on his back. He definitely shows signs of wanting to get moving and is trying to crawl/pull himself. He can now pretty much sit up on his own too - oh how fast they grow up.
Not much new with Carter except that he keeps me laughing at the things he comes up with. We are registering him in preschool for next year at the same place so hopefully we are able to get him there from the babysitters. He starts Tae Kwon Do on Thursday which should be fun to watch.

2nd one gets the shaft
Well Cohen was 6 months on Sunday and I just realized that I forgot to take a picture on our camera, let alone at a portrait studio since he was born - the 2nd one does get forgotten about.
We measured him last night and he is 27.5 inches (still in the 80 - 85% percentile). He is at the grabbing stage, where earrings, necklaces, hot coffee and such are fair game. I forgot how quick those little hands were. I appreciate so much what a good baby he is as we took him to the Pat's game last night and he just sat and watched all the action and never made a peep.
We enrolled Carter in soccer which starts in February and Tae Kwon Do which starts next week. We didn't put him in skating, as we have been pretty diligent about taking him every week on our own and will have to continue as he is doing awesome. Carter and I went sledding last Saturday and this is us on Sunday enjoying the nice weekend and all the snow we have got (the pic is thru a screen window).
Now that my leave is half over, I am on the hunt for a babysitter. Much more complex this time with two and Carter being in preschool. Have to figure out how to get him to and from school from the babysitters. Hopefully I will be able to go back to work only 75% time to make things a little easier on everyone and so we aren't eating KD & weiners every night.

Tough day for the Miller boys
Today Cohen had his 6 month immunization and I got his H1N1 shot done as well. He didn't cry for the first shot, only a bit for the second but the third one must have stung as he got upset. He is now 20lbs and 3oz (still in the 90th percentile) and at this rate will be out of the baby car seat real soon. It is so much handier when they are in the baby car seat, as they are easily transportable and can nap in there. However, he is getting really heavy to carry around.
Carter came home from school and only had a bit of lunch as he said his tummy was really sore so not sure what is wrong with him yet, maybe just sympathy pains for his daddy.
Josh had his surgery to ensure the Miller family will remain at only 4 people today and is not moving around too quickly. I can sympathize with the pain he must be enduring but can only compare it to major abdominal surgery (c-section), 20+ hours of back labour both times and 3rd degree tears.
I woke up with a stiff neck and back on Saturday morning which got progressively worse as the day went on. After lots of heat and stretching over the weekend, I have a bit more range of motion. I went to the chiropractor today, so hoping it will loosen up soon.

Back to a schedule
Cohen is almost sitting up by himself, today he lasted almost 4 minutes before tipping over. My persistency on trying to get him to fall asleep in the crib (without being rocked to sleep) has also paid off. Only if he is over tired does he fuss in the crib by himself.
Carter has done great this week with returning to school. I thought it would be a battle but I guess he was ready to go back after the long break. Carter and I went swimming on Wednesday night, it was nice to have some time together with just him - daddy and Cohen got to do some bonding as well. Carter now seems to now have a runny nose and a bit of a cough so not sure if it was from the pool and cold weather or if he caught something elsewhere.
I have been enjoying being able to take Cohen to the gym to fit in a workout. He is such an easy going baby and just goes with the flow. I have now got down to below my pre-pregnancy weight in less than 6 months which is quite exciting but things are sure in different places - guess that's what happens when you have kids.
Josh and I are going to Brad & Jamie's b-day party on Saturday night. It will be good to see everyone that we used to play floor hockey with again, so looking forward to it.

Happy New Year
It is hard to believe that it's 2010. We went to Christie and Dean's for New Year's but didn't make it til midnight. The kids played, men watched the game and women socialized. Our kids did great, Carter had a late afternoon nap so he made it until we left shortly after 11 pm. I had got Cohen settled down and to sleep but all the cheering downstairs from the excitement of the hockey game woke him up but once we got home we went down pretty quick.
Cohen has changed so much in the past week. He is really becoming much more aware of his surroundings and how his hands work. He is grabbing at things and passing toys between hands but the cutest of all, he has found his feet. I forgot how cute that really looked. We are still on cereal once a day and it's going pretty good. He has his 6 month immunization next week.
Carter got a big bump and cut under his eye on Saturday while at the Herback's for a play date. He looks like a tough guy now. I tried to cut his hair in the tub last night (the only time he sits still), disaster as it's like laying on the floor to cut hair. We will be registering Carter for Tae Kwon Do and soccer in the next week and thinking about CanSkate too. Not sure how much is too much but I think it will be better to busy than not, as we are quite home bound in the winter and lord knows this 3.5 year old needs to burn off some energy.
