Miller Moments

It was a beautiful weekend with the weather cooperating nicely, so we enjoyed lots of time outside. We went to the splash park on Sunday afternoon for 2 hours and the kids had a blast playing in the water. That night Grandma & Grandpa dropped over to bring a basketball net they got for free from the neighbor, so we were also outside.

Cohen was helping wash the bugs of daddy's car and shoot hoops.

The boys both had their immunizations on Tuesday - Carter his 4 year and Cohen his 1 year shots. Carter didn't cry at all and just said ouch when he felt the poke but he said it was pretty sore that night and the next day. Cohen did very well and only let out a littl cry on the 3rd one which supposedly stings quite a bit. Carter is 42 lbs and 40 1/2 inches and Cohen is almost 27 lbs and 30 1/4 inches (still in the 90th percentile). At this rate Cohen might catch up to Carter by age 2!

The boys are doing great at daycare, I think they both really like it as there are lots of kids (between 5 and 9 depending on the day) of all different ages. Danielle is wonderful and very easy going - she has to be with that many to look after. Today they went on a scavenger hunt with a list of things to find around the neighborhood. I am amazed at how mobile she is with that many.

I am on week 2 and everything is going good. I am enjoying being back to work - having a reason to dress up and get ready in the mornings, as well as challenge my brain and not just to remember nursery rhymes.

Josh is taking Carter and going to Davidson to golf on Friday and then we are hosting the Rider game on Saturday night so it will be another busy weekend - how quickly they fly by.

Well, I am back to work full-time and things have been going fairly smooth in regards to early morning work outs, getting kids ready and to the babysitter, preparing supper and kids to bed. However, Cohen must be teething something fierce again as he has had a fever the last 3 nights so no one has got much sleep (except Carter who can sleep thru anything). He has had a really bad fever every night that gets progressively worse and has been quite lethargic and cuddly. Carter ran into the gate at the babysitters so he has a big scrape on his cheek. Other than that, things are good.

Even though I was off work for 365 days, after day 1 it feels like I never left the office and that year seems like a blur. I am enjoying being back to work and the job at Mercer is very similar to Aon so the learning curve is not that steep. I got a wonderful surprise of a flower from my hubby to brighten up my new office - no window this time.

My baby turned 1 today - where did that 365 days go?

My first day back at work started at 4:25 am when I had to get up and get ready for my flight to Calgary at 6:00 am. I am on 2 days of orientation and then have the rest of the week off. I technically was not supposed to end maternity leave until July 11 but as the Stampede is in Calgary next week I had to come this week. I am excited about getting back into career mode but will definitely miss my time at home with the boys.

Josh did great with the boys this morning, as it is their first full week of daycare. I was taking them part-time the week before but the sitter was on holidays last week which probably didn't help the transition. This morning Carter told Josh that he had a stomach ache and that they should both stay home - even at 4 they have all the answers! Cohen bawled when Josh dropped them off, which I expected as he did it for me the prior week too but know that it will get easier and it doesn't last long.

I have high expectations to get lots done the rest of the week - appt's, etc. before the craziness of working full-time with 2 small kids starts. I also have to write my Life license exams (2 of them) in the next 6 months so will have to fit in studying time too!

Well we weren't quite sure what we were going to do for Canada Day but apparently Carter did. When he got up this morning he said "I am so glad that it is finally Canada Day so we can go to the beach." I had told him we might do this a couple days ago and of course he didn't forget. He has been asking to go to the beach since about March so as it was such a nice day, we packed up and went. I packed the cooler for a picnic lunch and swim clothes for the kids.
