Good news..... Bad news
Well, we got great news from my dad's 6 week checkup, he is free and clear from his throat cancer. You really take your parents for granted and that they will be around forever but unfortunately when something like this happens it is quite a reality check. We are all getting older and our health is more of a concern.
As for the bad news, we found out that my aunt has parkinson's which is just devastating to us all. I can't believe that it can happen to such a young woman. Even though we live so far away, family is always there for support and I hope we can somehow help her threw this.
We have been debating what to do about the H1N1 vaccination for us and Carter. I think we will get it for Carter as he is contact with numerous kids at school and isn't always the greatest about washing with soap and warm water. We obviously can't get Cohen vaccinated as he is only 3.5 months old so hoping having Carter done will ensure that he doesn't bring anything home.

Slowing down....
Well things appear to be slowing down on the pooping side of things with Cohen. I have stopped pumping and am no longer giving him breast milk, which may have been part of the reason. It was just too hectic and difficult to pump, feed and take care of a 3 year old. I am happy that he got a good 3 months of the "good stuff" but now we are onto making bottles full time - forgot how much fun that was. Still no word from the doctor.
We took Carter to the hay bail maze at Dutch Growers on Monday as Josh was off work. He did really well finding his way out since he wasn't tall enough to see over the bails and cheat. Unfortunately we forgot the camera.
Carter is doing great with getting himself dressed and ready these days, which makes it much easier for me. He can even spell his name now without looking at it written down.
Josh and I are going to a Halloween cabaret fundraiser on Friday with a Woodstock theme so are trying to get some costumes together. I tried a bunch of my mom's old clothes from her tickle trunk and we had some good laughs. It should be fun as I love dressing up. Not sure if I will be drinking or not at the cabaret, as I had one last Saturday and it hit me like a tonne of bricks - what do you expect when you haven't drank for over 15 months I guess.

Karate kid
Cohen is doing good, not sure how much he weighs now but he has cute little rolls everywhere. He is still pooping quite a bit and we have not yet heard anything from the sample he gave.
Carter was invited by Ryler (boy from his old daycare) to go as a buddy to Karate. He went on Thursday night and they did punches and kicks as partners, I was a little scared as I wasn't sure how coordinated they were to be punching or kicking a pad that the other one was holding but no one got hurt and they did good. Carter can now spell his name without seeing it written down.
I made rice krispy pumpkins for Carter to take to preschool, it made just enough for 20 kids.
My aunt and uncle from Chicago were down for just over 4 days so we enjoyed their company and visiting. We had an early birthday celebration of cake for my sister-in-laws birthday tonight.
It has been great having Josh home for a couple days, it will be hard to get back into a routine with just me and the boys as he has been real helpful.

It's a messy job but someone's got to do it....
Took Cohen to the pediatrician today to find out why he is still pooping - week 3. The doctor thought he was fine but sent us for lab work. I had to get a stool sample so I had to dig poop out of his diaper in a public washroom with no change table - oh what fun it was today! Hopefully all comes back okay and it is just a bug that he has been fighting.
Carter learned a new pumpkin song but he can't quite remember the whole thing (hard to believe) as it is quite long, so no video to show yet. He went to pumpkin hollow today on the bus and I think he had lots of fun, even though he wasn't able to tell me all that they did. They get to bring home their own little pumpkin tomorrow.
He is learning how to get his coat and mitts on by himself at school. Today he put his mitts on all by himself (my little boy is growing up!)
Josh and I are having a date night tonight - going to a movie. I can't even remember the last time we were out alone, let alone to a movie, so looking forward to it.

Boys night in........
Wednesday night I went to Globe Theatre and was gone most of the night, so it was a boy's night at home. Things must have went well as I didn't hear from them.
Carter is now sleeping in his new bed. We finally decided to set it up and take the mattress off the floor. He has yet to fall out and it has been 4 days. I have never seen someone who tosses so much in his sleep. He always ends up at the other end or sideways in his bed.
Carter also learned a new halloween song at preschool- check out the video. He is getting quite the imagination as he is now making up his own songs and always has a great idea for something.
Not much new with Cohen .. still pooping lots. I sat him in the bumbo chair and he can pretty much hold himself up, can't believe how strong his back and neck are. Below are some 3 month pictures.

Darn weather....
Cohen is still pooping but must be over the bug or whatever it was as his bumb has healed. We are optimistically excited as he went 9.5 hours between feedings last night, so we got about 7 hours of consecutive sleep!!!!
Carter was supposed to go to pumpkin hollow with school today but it got rescheduled due to the weather. He was worried about going on the bus last night but this morning seemed excited, so hopefully he will stay excited. They are now going next Tuesday.
Hoping it warms up so we can blow out the sprinklers, put away the rain barrels and pull the rest of my onions - who knew the change in weather was going to come so fast.

All pooped out???? ...... Happy Thanksgiving
Well poor Cohen (and mommy) are on day 5 of the non-stop runs. Starting to get concerned but the nurse confirmed that he didn't have any of the signs to be worried about. Hoping it will end soon, as his poor little bum is taking a beating. Cohen is now 13 weeks old today and 3 months tomorrow - what an easy going baby.
Carter got himself fully dressed today for the 1st time, he thought it would get him outside quicker to throw snowballs at me. I think he is the only one excited about the snow!

We are doing family turkey on Sunday and with friends on Monday. Should be a weekend full of good food.... ughhh.... as I had just got down to within 5 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight!! Oh well, there's always next week! Josh says he is on slim down too as of next week. He got the go ahead from the surgeon to play hockey again so that will help, as he hadn't been able to do much.

Ohhh....poopy day!
Well Cohen had one poop of a day yesterday... pretty much all day long. Not sure if it's what I ate or a bug. I told Carter about it and he told me that his baby Ashley pooped many times too and so I asked if he changed her diaper and he said yes. I then asked if it made him sick and he said "no, you get used to it". What 3 year old says that ... whatta guy.
Carter had his preschool pictures on Monday. Not sure what his hair will look like as he was too busy trying to look around me to watch Toopy & Binoo while I was trying to do his hair. He is still fighting his cold but the cough has got better.
Carter got a stinky (scratch and sniff) sticker today for matching all the numbers from 1 - 10 and putting them in the right order, as this is what Ms. Julie expects for the 2nd year kids not the 3 year olds like Carter. I think he is doing well and seems to like it.
Just when I thought there was a schedule with Cohen and was getting almost 4 hours in a row at night, he decided to get up twice last night to eat - hoping it's the 3 month growth spurt and not going to be a habit. Josh and I are counting the days til he sleeps thru the night (8 consecutive hours would be great).
