What happened to August ?????
I have thought lots about posting, as it has been a busy month and lots to share but just never seem to sit down long enough to get it done. I always took my camera too but never seemed to take any pictures lately either.
Carter went to camp for a week in the mornings as Danielle was still on holidays. Grandmas filled in for babysitting.
On Saturday Carter and I met Derek and Kaden @ Megamunch's birthday celebration at the museum so the kids enjoyed a nice afternoon of crafts, activities and games. That Sunday we celebrated both grandma's birthdays - me and the boys took them to candy cane park for a bbq. Felt like a useless woman in distress though, as we took brickettes but no lighter fluid (by choice) and couldn't get it going with paper so some guy at the next picnic table just kind of took over and helped us out. I was thankful but sure I could have got it going sooner or later. Josh had gone to Saskatoon for men's provincials that weekend.
The following weekend, I went by myself to Saskatoon for women's provincials. It was nice to have some me time but missed the boys nonetheless. Had a bit too much fun on Saturday night in the beer gardens so paid for it Sunday morning as I do not normally drink and won't be again for some time. We lost in the 'A' final so qualify to go to Kelowna for Nationals next year. The same weekend was the golf fundraiser for Laurie and her family that I helped organize and Josh golfed in. It was a huge success with thousands of dollars raised. The best gift of all when I got home was to hear that Laurie was being discharged and going home - finally!
This past weekend we went to Saskatoon as a family, Josh played coed. The kids got to waterslide and enjoy the hotel pool. Sunday afternoon, I took them to a nice park that had a train ride and merry go round. We met up with the people we had met in Mexico with kids almost the exact same age, within 24 and 6 days of Carter and Cohen. I drove back early with the kids and Josh's team lost in the finals.
Carter starts kindergarten tomorrow - where did the summer go!
The weather has been wonderful so we have been enjoying as much time outdoors as possible as it won't be long before fall hits!

Day 2 of family vacation
As mentioned, we did Galaxyland the first day to give mom and dad a bit of a break while Carter was busy riding. Day 2 we were in line at the waterpark when it opened at 10 am. We rode until 12:30 when we did our late check out and caught a quick bite to eat. Then back to the water park, Carter opted not for napping and more riding so Josh stayed with Cohen in the truck for his nap and Carter and I hit the slides.
There was only 1 slide that we could go down with Cohen and a raft ride so we did those quite a bit. He also liked the kiddie pool but not the wave pool - the tidal wave noise and splashing up in his face from the waves did not make him happy. Carter was a maniac on the slides too - he went down all that he was allowed to and even one that he wasn't allowed due to height, weight and ability to swim. His favorite was the blue bullet but he also liked the howler, twister, nessie's revenge and corkscrew. Oh to be five and have "no fear". I was so proud of how well he did climbing thousands of stairs and not complaining once - he was a trooper as we rode until 5:30 pm only stopping for a quick snack!
Our first family vacation was a success!

Dad's birthday
Well today would have been the big guys 76th birthday. Looking back to last year, I am now so glad that we had such a special celebration for his 75th, mom's 70th and their 50th anniversary.
I miss you so much dad but hope that you are so much more comfortable and enjoying life up in heaven. We took a ride in your Cadillac tonight - mom, Derek and I. Of course we couldn't get the top to go down so couldn't ride it convertible style like you would have but it was a beautiful night and we knew you would have been out cruising. We took your ashes and Derek drove us the way out the old cottage and we sprinkled them out the window. We hope you are free of pain. Love you so much!

Nationals & Family Vacation
I went with our women's team to Leduc to play slo-pitch Nationals on the August long weekend. We left Thursday and took the kids as our sitter is off the first 2 weeks in August so made it into a family vacation as well. Josh also ended up playing a few games with the guys team so it was fun for everyone. We played 9 games in 4 days and won 7, which made us 'B' side winners - not bad for a team that only had a couple practices. My body was in rough shape by the end so kind of happy we lost out when we did or would have had to play 5 games on Monday alone.
Monday afternoon we headed into Edmonton to check out the mall. Tuesday was Galaxyland as Josh and I wanted to rest and save the water park for the next day. Carter is fearless, to say the least. He went on every ride that they would let him, by himself and couldn't get enough. Josh and I had to go on the roller coaster with him and he loved every minute of it. Cohen enjoyed the smaller rides and play structure so a good time was had by all. We got there at 10 am when it opened, went back to the hotel for lunch and quick nap to return for more rides that afternoon - it was a full day of fun!
