7 years already...
Well, we have made it to 7 years - our anniversary that is. Long time compared to the average these days but hardly a drop in the bucket compared to my parents' 50 years. Hard to believe it has been 7 years though, time really flies once you have kids.
I received a beautiful rose bouquet on Tuesday, quite a few days early, so that I could enjoy them at work all week.
I planned an evening out for us. Friday I convinced Josh that we had to drive together because my mom had to take my truck in to get the tires rotated - it really did happen. Then earlier in the week I had packed a bag with our bathing suits, gift card, etc. and left it at work. My mom was to get the kids and look after them Friday night with the help of Josh's mom. We went to Moxies for supper and then to the Chakari Spa. It is so nice as you can use the hotel hot tub and pool before your service. Then we had a couple's pedicure and went to a movie. We got home around midnight feeling very relaxed. Until.........................
Cohen woke up around 3:15, I went in to give him his soother and he started projectile vomiting, we spent the rest of the night cleaning up puke and trying to console him about every 45 minutes. Finally by 7 am the puking stopped. Not sure what it was but he was better during the day, just real tired and cuddly. However, by supper he must have been feeling better as I pulled the leather foot stool into the kitchen and was trying to "help" me wash dishes.
Swimming for the first time...
I decided that we should take Cohen swimming to the pool as he start his lessons in April. We took Carter at less than 3 months but after reading how bad the chlorine is and how hard it can be on kids before the age of 2, I was a little more cautious this time with Cohen. We had taken him to the MooseJaw spa a couple times and he loves bathes.
He did great of course, loved the slide until he fell down the stairs backwards and then was a little hesitant after that but all in all everyone had a good time.
Happy that we are able to get Cohen and Carter in at the same time this session on Saturday mornings. Carter will be moving on to Sunfish from his 3rd time in Salamander - practice makes perfect! He has improved hugely this lesson and can swim better underwater than I can.

Final days....
Thursday was our last full day in Mexico so we decided to spend it around the pool.
Carter did his first try at bartering for the lizard he is holding on his hand below - no it's not real. The lady told him it was 40 pesos or just about $4 US so I sent him with $2 US and to tell her that is all he had. She said he needed more but we held our ground, he came back once more without it when a nice gentleman stepped in and helped Carter make the deal. We called him Carter barter for doing a good job.
The maid left us a nice surprise of an elephant towel. They had lots of animals done up in the lobby but this is the first one we got in the room.
I finally got a chance to enjoy the loungers in the pool, was chilly getting in but nice once you were in there.
We challenged some people that we had met down there to a game of ping pong and lost - just barely. I had a few drinks under my belt by then so the coordination wasn't quite up to par but it was fun nonetheless.
Tanner and Carter playing air hockey in the sports bar - they were up way too late for 5 year olds but that's what your supposed to do on holidays I guess.
Friday morning it was quite foggy and almost starting to spit so we didn't get much sun for our last couple of hours in Mexico but were happy that this was the weather on our last day. It did burn off by mid afternoon when we were boarding the plane to go home.
Cohen woke up at 3 am and gave Josh and I the biggest smile and hug ever. I would have rather waited until morning to see him but it was a wonderful to have that moment.
The end.....

20 months old....
Yesterday Cohen was 20 months old, some days he seems like such a little boy and others still like our little baby. Still no sign of talking but he now tries to say grandma and today grandpa for the first time. I measured him and he is 33.5 inches tall and he is still about 32 lbs so he is thinning out.
He has now figured out how to make the scoop shoot the ball and is so proud of himself.
He has also started to go down the stairs forward on his bumb instead of backwards - no face plants yet.
He was quite the trooper, the week we were gone to Mexico but now won't let us too far out of his sight.
Carter and Cohen eating the piece of celery that they stole from me, even though neither of them like celery - little devils.

Cohen playing snakes & ladders just like Carter does -rolling the dice and moving the men.

Here is a video of Carter and Cohen dancing.

Sunday mommy was a mess ....
We ventured off the hotel on Sunday morning to call home. Friends told us of a coffee house (Looney Beans) that let you make an international phone call with a purchase. So we walked along the ocean, Carter picking shells along the way. We saw a live hermit crab and not so alive porcupine puffer fish. There were a few shops to look at stuff, it was an enjoyable morning. Cohen apparently smiled when he heard my voice - brought a tear to my eye.

Carter & I trying on sombreros
That afternoon, we were with Carter in the kiddie pool for awhile. Later, that afternoon we ventured into the adult area and I ended up drinking paralyzers and playing beersbee - beer frisbee. We buried Carter and everyone played with him to keep him entertained and we did alot of drinking. I ended up very sick that evening and missed out on supper and the show. Needless to say, I got that out of my system early in the week but it made drinking much less enjoyable, as nothing really tasted good thereafter.

Monday morning I hit the gym to repent for my sins and sweat out some toxins. I then took Carter to the beach for the rest of the morning - we built castles, played in the ocean and I bartered for our 2 cowboy hats!

More to come....
Mexico continued..... Tues downtown & Wed zip line
On Tuesday, we ventured out from the hotel to see Seashell city and the acquarium for Carter.
We took a ride in a Pulmonia - glorified golf cart.
Seashell city was just as I remember, the entire store is covered in seashells and lots of other interesting stuff.
We then decided to try to walk to the acquarium. Bad idea, as Carter was tired, grumpy and not overly cooperative so we took turns piggybacking him and almost gave up - when I finally saw the sign to the acquarium. Glad we went as there was lots of animals to see. As well as, a couple of shows - 1st was a guy swimming with the sharks and next a cute sealion show. Just had to go up and got kissed by the sealion.

Wednesday morning Cortney (one of the Toronto girls that we met) and I ventured off to zip line. It was quite an experience but fun nonetheless. The ride up the steep gravel hill in our glorified jeep with bench seats and "holy crap" handles was scarier than the actual zip lining. There were 9 zip lines and then a tour of the tequila factory with compliementary shots. Cortney and I had 3 shots each, I am not a real fan of tequila but this stuff was pretty smooth and made the bus ride home much more fun. Need to get the pictures from Cortney to prove I went.
I ventured back to the coffee shop and made another purchase in hopes to call home again but the phone lines went down just an hour before that and she didn't expect them to be up until Thursday - just my luck of course. I did have a spectacular green tea latte though- look out Starbucks.

Of course we stopped at one of the many Sr. Frogs stores.
It is like Tim Horton's in Canada, they are on every block almost.

Back to reality.....
Our week long vacation to the Riu in Mazatlan is now all but a distant memory. It was wonderful none the less. Hotel was amazing - food, cleanliness, service, kids activities & of course endless booze.
We arrived mid Friday afternoon, enough time to get acquainted and enjoy a bit of sun before going for supper and the show. Each night at 8pm they had a kids show then at 9 pm there was entertainment.
