Holiday Break
Well Christmas was nice as we got to see lots of everyone, even though it was a bit rushed. Cohen did great and went with the flow, as usual. Carter was good too considering we bounced from place to place opening gifts and he never got to play with hardly any of them. Seems so quiet now with everyone gone and back to work.
We had Marcia and Dawson over this morning for a play date and are going to try and get together with Cheryl, Peyton and Jordyn this week too while Carter still has no school. Not sure how easy it will be to get him back into the swing of school as he asks every morning if he has to go and when I say no, he says "yahoo!". He loves it once he gets there, it's just convincing him to go is the not so easy part.
Josh's grandma gave us 2 free movie passes so we are going to try to have a date night before they expire on the 31st. Not sure what is up for New Year's yet as we will have to find something kid friendly, if we plan to go out at all. Hard to believe it will be 2010.

Worth it .... or not
Cohen has had some tummy troubles for the past 3 days. It started Wednesday night as there was an enormous mess in the crib - had to bath Cohen as it was neck to knees, wash sleeper and crib sheets. This continued Thursday and Friday. I took the boys to the Carpet Superstore customer appreciation night as Trent (the owner) is a good friend and as Josh was getting there about 8:00 pm, Cohen had a huge explosion and soaked himself and me. Called my bro to get some pharmacist advice and he suggested to cut out formula for a day so off to Walmart we went at 9:00 pm to get some white grape juice. Saturday things were getting better and today he is pretty much back to normal.
Last night we went to the Hicke's annual Christmas party in our pj's (as required) and socialized, played games and ate. We got home at 1:30 am, glad I only had a couple drinks as Cohen woke up at 2:30 am and I was up with him til 3:30 am and again at 6:53 am and with Carter at 7:03 am. Is it worth going out... to end up getting no sleep?

Carter did great at his Christmas concert, they only had 2 minutes of fame on the stage but it was soooo cute! Carter is now done preschool until January 6th so we will have to make alot of playdates with other kids to help pass the next couple weeks.
We took the boys sledding this afternoon. First time for Cohen and I had took Carter yesterday as it was a nice weekend. Cohen and I only stayed for a short while as his cheeks were getting cold as I forgot a scarf for him.

Keeping up with the Jones'....
Well it was Carter's last school day before the holidays and when we got there the other kids were bringing gifts and moms had baking. It was bad enough that I noticed but after sending Carter into class, he came out and said I didn't bring a gift (bad mom). Who knew that at 3 years old I would have to take a gift to the teacher, especially since we pay to send him there. So home I ran to find something in the regifting pile before running to the mom's group that I have wanted to attend for some time but never got to, then back to pick up Carter with the gift.
Tomorrow is his Christmas concert in the afternoon and it should be so cute, can't wait.
Cohen is doing great. Eating cereal is getting much better. We are just having a little trouble getting him to sleep without falling asleep in someone's arms. The last week of nights have been a long battle until 10:30 or 11:00 pm. Can't blame him as who wouldn't want to get rocked to sleep.
We have a Christmas party to go to on Saturday night with a pajama theme, looking forward to seeing everyone and wearing my new pj's.

It's like being single again.... kinda
Josh and Carter left today for Edmonton so it's just Cohen and I. It's kinda like being single again, since Cohen is easily transportable - we can come and go as we please (except for feeding him every 3 hours). I now remember how much more time I had when there was just Carter.
Cohen had his 5 month appointment today and weighed in at a whopping 18 lbs 9 oz (85th percentile) and 26.5 inches (80th percentile). This is the first time the Dr. saw him since 2 months and he was happily surprised with the significant increase.
I had Cohen giggling like crazy tonight, it was so cute. I was playing with him on the floor and he is starting to try to roll over, he gets on his side so far. Now when he sees his bottle he reaches for it and tries to put it in his mouth. It is crazy how quickly they develop.
Tomorrow we (Dad, Mom & I) are tackling the closet door. One of the many things on my long list to get done in the next 3 days while Josh and Carter are gone.

Mid week update
We took Carter skating on Sunday for the second time. He is doing pretty good with his balance but a long way to go. I strapped on the blades too for the first time in a couple years, they definitely felt weird as they are very different from my rollerblades but it was good to be back on the ice.
Carter has been really into building castles for the last couple weeks, mostly he likes to knock them down but below is the one we built today.
I have started to try and feed Cohen cereal as our strapping young man seems to be hungrier these days and they usually suggest starting around 4 - 6 months. The first day (yesterday) nothing seemed to stay in, that little tongue just pushed it all out - what a mess. Today seems to have gone a little better and I am sure he will have the hang of it in no time.
I have a long list of things to get done this weekend while Josh and Carter are gone, hopefully it all gets done.

Saturday fun
Carter and I were outside in the morning, I was breaking down the boxes from the treadmill we bought and threw out on the deck which got covered in snow, while Carter was making snow angels. Didn't get a picture of him though, as he didn't last outside too long. That afternoon we decorated a gingerbread house (mostly me as I love doing that kind of stuff and he has a fairly short attention span for that kind of stuff).
Josh took Carter to the Pats game and Cohen stayed home with grandma. It was my girls annual Christmas party and we went for supper to Bocados and had a gift exchange. It was fun, I got home about 11:30pm and glad it wasn't any later as Cohen was up at 6 am to eat as he ate and went to bed way earlier than normal.

Time flies
Hard to believe that a week today Cohen will be 5 months old. He has started to blow spit bubbles, which is pretty darn cute. He is now wearing a sleeper that Carter wore at about 7 months - he is a big boy! We have a Dr. appt with the pediatrician next week so will see how big he actually is.
Carter has been learning songs at preschool for his Christmas concert on the 17th. His memory amazes me at how he can learn all these songs and recite them by himself. The concert is in the afternoon so not sure how he will make it as he is still an afternoon napper. I think I would like to cut out the napping soon so he goes to bed earlier but for now this seems to be working.
It is my annual girl's Christmas get together on Saturday, so looking forward to seeing the girls and going out for a nice supper.
