Busy boys and time to reflect

Well it is now Josh's turn to go away on what I am calling a "mancation"  5 days consisting of a NHL hockey game, UFC fight and a NFL football game so it is just me and the boys.

Carter had his first school dance today (yes, he is only in kindergarten) with a DJ and canteen to buy treats.  He told me that he wanted to look like a rock star so we got together the best looking outfit we could (oops no picture). It was also progress report day and Carter got "well developed" on almost everything so of course we are very proud of him. We have a meeting with his teacher next week to set goals for the year.

As for sports, Carter is really enjoying tennis and doing quite well at it. His skating is also improving and he got his first goal in hockey last week. I will be hockey mom tomorrow - I got the lesson on how to dress him and will be dawning my dull skates to hit the ice with him to help out.

We had a specialist appointment for Cohen's cystic hygroma last week, as it had all of a sudden come back and we were quite concerned. The Doc assured us that it is inflamed due to a respiratory cold and that it will likely do this every time he gets sick, so he is now recommending giving him the "injection". The mass on his neck is in no way harmful but cosmetically his face is assymetrical. If we proceed with the injection it will likely be some time in the early new year.

Cohen is busy into activities as well - gymnastics which I am very impressed at his attention span and coordination and now swimming again. I notice a difference since the last lesson as he is already more comfortable in the water and loves the slide and jumping in.

One year - I miss you so much dad and question myself as to why it has gotten easier over this period of healing. I know it is supposed to get easier but it makes me feel that I am forgetting or moving on. I will never forget what an amazing man you were and what wonderful values you instilled in me. I think of you so often and am reminded of all that you have taught me, it still brings tears to my eyes but now also brings a smile to my face. I really now appreciate how lucky I was to have such a wonderful father. I so wish my kids could have had more time to get to know you and have you as part of their lives too - you are a special grandpa!
